United Robotics Group Expands European Presence with Robotnik Acquisition

United Robotics Group acquires Robotnik, advancing their position in the European robotics market.

United Robotics Group (URG) has acquired a majority stake in Robotnik Automation, a Valencia, Spain-based provider of mobile service robotics technologies. This strategic move strengthens URG's position in the European robotics market and expands its ecosystem of service robotics companies.

Robotnik, with a 20-year history of developing mobile robots and mobile manipulators, boasts a presence in markets such as Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, the USA, France, Germany, and Italy. By joining forces with URG, Robotnik's 70 highly experienced robotics experts will contribute to the development of new applications for CobiotX, the third generation of robots designed for human collaboration.

Thomas Linkenheil, co-CEO of United Robotics Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, "We have been working with Robotnik as our strategic partner, and I am delighted to see the company join our group. We will benefit from their expertise, especially in R&D and software development."

Founded by Thomas Hähn in 2019, URG aims to unite service robotics companies under one roof, creating a unique ecosystem that combines hardware and software expertise. The acquisition of Robotnik follows URG's purchase of Softbank Robotics Europe in April 2022, which reverted to its original name, Aldebaran.

Nadja Schmiedl, CTO of United Robotics Group, highlighted the synergy between the two companies, saying, "Robotnik's leading mobile manipulator technology and expertise in arm integration make it a perfect partner for URG. We will benefit from their access to international research networks and their products, strengthening our vertical Inspection & Maintenance and exploring mobility applications in new CobiotX projects."

Roberto Guzmán, CEO of Robotnik, shared his excitement about joining URG, stating, "We are very pleased to integrate into the United Robotics Group and contribute to its expansion in the global market. We will focus on developing cutting-edge technology and leveraging our network and experience in R&D projects to support URG's success."

As United Robotics Group continues to grow its ecosystem of service robotics companies, businesses looking to hire robots for various jobs can expect a wider range of innovative solutions tailored to their needs. This expansion in the European robotics market signifies a promising future for robot workers and the companies that rely on them.
